Figuras públicas protagonizan campaña para estimular a los hombres a realizarse el examen de próstata

SANTO DOMINGO.- Peloteros profesionales, cantantes y humoristas reconocidos, protagonizan los mensajes de la campaña lanzada por la primera dama Raquel Arbaje junto al Servicio Nacional de Salud y el Seguro Nacional de Salud para estimular a los hombres a realizarse el examen de próstata.

El mensaje de los humoristas y actores Raymond y Miguel, difundido a partir de este viernes a través de las redes sociales, inaugura la campaña en la que participan el también humorista Felipe Polanco (Boruga), el presentador de televisión Francisco Vásquez, y el cantante y director de orquesta Héctor Acosta, actual senador por la provincia Monseñor Nouel.

Completan la lista de figuras prominentes que han prestado su colaboración desinteresada los peloteros dominicanos de Grandes Ligas Moisés Alou, Nelson Cruz y Edwin Encarnación, y el italo-venezolano Francisco Cervelli.

Con el lema “¡Chequéate!”, esta es la primera campaña masiva en el país dirigida a persuadir a los hombres de la importancia del chequeo periódico para la detección temprana del cáncer de próstata, principal causa de muerte por cáncer en la población masculina dominicana.

El objetivo de la iniciativa, que comenzó a ejecutarse el pasado primero de mayo como parte de la iniciativa “Uniendo Voluntades” que auspicia Arbaje, es reducir la mortalidad por los cánceres de próstata, cervicouterino y de mama mediante la realización de exámenes gratuitos en diez de los principales hospitales del país. Las personas interesadas pueden recibir información llamando al teléfono *462.

Con ocasión del lanzamiento, la primera dama y los doctores Mario Lama y Santiago Hazim, directores del SNS y del Senasa, respectivamente, destacaron la necesidad de que los hombres y mujeres acudan con regularidad a los centros hospitalarios para someterse a chequeos que permitan identificar anomalías en su etapa inicial.

“La tarea de convencimiento sobre la importancia de chequearse con la frecuencia que indican los médicos compete a la familia, también a los amigos, a los compañeros y compañeras de trabajo, a las organizaciones sociales y a todo aquel que se sienta preocupado por el bienestar de la gente”, dijo Arbaje en el acto de lanzamiento de la campaña.

Los mensajes de las personalidades se difundirán a través de diversas plataformas durante el tiempo de vigencia de la campaña, en la que también participarán mujeres destacadas en la comunicación y el arte con exhortaciones dirigidas de manera particular a la población femenina.
