VARGAS AFIRMA QUE LA REGIÓN DEL CARIBE ESTÁ ENVUELTA «EN UNA CRISIS DE MUCHA TRISTEZA: HAITÍ»

El merenguero Sergio Vargas aprovechó el escenario del Latin Grammy, en el que recibió el premio a «Mejor álbum de merengue y/o bachata», para referirse a la crisis socio-política de Haití, país que vive «una crisis de mucha tristeza» en la región del Caribe.

«Los invito a que vengan a la República Dominicana y veamos el problema de Haití juntos, y le demos un abrazo a esa región en el Caribe que tanto nos necesita», expresó el «Negrito de Villa» en el evento en Las Vegas, Estados Unidos.

Vargas resaltó que viajaba desde «una región en la misma ruta del sol» en la que «compartimos la isla con Haiti» y «hoy esta región envuelta en una crisis de mucha tristeza: Haití».

También dedicó el premio a Villa Altagracia, «un pueblo al norte de la capital dominicana, Santo Domingo» y a su disquera J /& N Récords.

Por igual, lo dedicó a «todos los compositores, productores, músicos que han formado parte de mi larga carrera artística; un Grammy para La Filarmónica de Villa Altagracia!, agradecido infinitamente!».

Con su disco “Es merengue, ¿algún problema?”, Sergio Vargas ganó la categoría de «Mejor álbum de merengue y/o bachata» de los Latin Grammy, que entregó la Academia Latina de la Grabación en Las Vegas, Estados Unidos.

Se trata del primer premio Latin Grammy recibido por el «Negrito de Villa» en sus casi 40 años de carrera desde que a finales de 1981 ganó el segundo lugar del Festival de la Voz organizado por el músico Rafael Solano y Yaqui Núñez del Risco.

En la categoría Mejor álbum de merengue y/o bachata competían además, Alexandra con “Bachata Queen”; Manny Cruz, “Love Dance Merengue”; Luis Segura, “El papá de la bachata, su legado (Añoñado I, II, III, IV)” y Fernando Villalona con “Insensatez”
