“Esta es una auténtica revolución de movilidad sostenible que impactará muy positivamente en la vida de miles de personas”, dijo el gobernante al referirse al ahorro y comodidad._

 

Santiago.- El presidente Luis Abinader, en una fecha histórica para Santiago, cuando se conmemora el 178 aniversario de la Batalla del 30 de marzo, inició los trabajos de construcción de un monorriel en esta ciudad, con capacidad de transportar 20,000 pasajeros por hora.

El gobernante dijo que este sistema ferroviario de alta tecnología, impactará de manera directa más de 500 mil personas, reduciendo en un 30% del gasto de transporte, disminuyendo la congestión y aumentando la productividad con menos impacto ambiental.

 

“Nos hemos propuesto revolucionar las ciudades e impactar en la vida cotidiana de la gente con acciones reales que todos y todas podamos disfrutar”, manifestó

 

Resaltó que objetivo es establecer un servicio de transporte público de alta calidad y disponibilidad, interconectado con el Sistema Integrado de Transporte de Santiago, reduciendo el tiempo de viaje y el costo de transporte, y aumentando la accesibilidad y la calidad de vida de los usuarios.

 

El Monorriel de Santiago es el primero en Centroamérica y El Caribe y será gestionado a través de la Oficina para el Desarrollo de Proyectos de Movilidad Urbana e Interurbana.

 

“Aquí y ahora, empezamos a cumplir el sueño de tener un monorriel en la ciudad de Santiago”, proclamó el jefe de Estado, al describir este proyecto como una demanda por años de los santiagueros y un compromiso de su gestión de Gobierno.

 

El Monorriel de Santiago, aseguró el mandatario, solucionará problemas y generará nuevas oportunidades. Junto a la Línea 1 del Teleférico integran los sectores de mayor población y los principales lugares de trabajo de la ciudad.

 

El presidente Abinader desarrolla desde ayer una agenda de trabajo en esta provincia, y en la mañana de hoy participó en los actos de la gesta del 30 de marzo, para conmemorar la batalla que consolidó la Independencia Nacional, del 27 de febrero de 1844.

 

Basó la importancia de la obra en que Santiago de los Caballeros se ha desarrollado como una ciudad monocéntrica, que concentra toda la actividad en el centro urbano.

 

Agregó que la situación ha provocado la consolidación de los viajes desde la zona periférica hacia las zonas de atracción de viajes, como son los grandes generadores de empleos, centros educativos y gestiones institucionales.

 

“Con este sistema, establecemos una nueva gestión integral del transporte, que engloba y agrupa todos los modelos y lo hace accesible a todos los ciudadanos”, expresó Abinader.

 

Indicó que la manera de estar y moverse por la ciudad está cambiando, por lo que Gobierno responde a esa demanda con acciones como esta: con trasporte público de vanguardia, sostenible y eficaz.

 

El presidente Abinader entiende que moverse por la ciudad no puede ser nunca un problema, sino una oportunidad.

El mandatario estuvo acompañado del presidente del Senado y senador de Santiago, Eduardo Estrella; los ministros de la Presidencia, Lisandro Macarrulla; Administrativo de la Presidencia, José Ignacio Paliza; de Obras Públicas, Deligne Ascención; la ministra sin Cartera, Geanilda Vásquez y de la gobernadora de Santiago, Rosa Santos.

 

También estuvieron presentes el alcalde de Santiago, Abel Martínez; el director de la Oficina para el Desarrollo de Proyectos de Movilidad Urbana e Interurbana, Jhael Isa; el alcalde de Santiago Oeste, Eddy Báez; el administrador general de Edenorte, Andrés Cueto y el director de Proindustria, Ulises Rodríguez.

 

Igualmente, miembros del Cuerpo Diplomático y Consular acreditados en el país y del Gabinete de Transporte; empresarios; comunitarios; entre otros invitados.

 

Durante el acto, el senador de Santiago, Eduardo Estrella, expresó que este monorriel representa un gran beneficio para toda la ciudadanía, incluidos estudiantes, trabajadores, deportistas y marca un antes y un después en el transporte de Santiago, que se traduce en calidad de vida.

 

Manifestó que después de muchos años un presidente no tomaba en cuenta a Santiago para devolver lo que la provincia paga en impuestos.

 

Dijo que estas obras han llegado más rápido de lo imaginado, gracias a la voluntad política del mandatario, un presidente que no malgasta y rinde los pesos y los centavos.

 

Detalles técnicos y cobertura 

El director de la Oficina para el Desarrollo de Proyectos de Movilidad Urbana e Interurbana, Jhael Isa, informó que en la ciudad de Santiago se producen 1 millón 197 mil viajes al día, de los cuales el 30% serán captados con la entrada en operaciones del Monorriel.

 

Expuso que hoy se hace historia en Santiago porque se inicia la mayor inversión social en la provincia en los últimos 50 años.

 

«Mediante esta iniciativa liderada por el presidente de la República, bajo el Ministerio de la Presidencia, permitirá que en tan solos 25 minutos cualquier ciudadano pueda llegar desde Cienfuegos hasta Pekín, un trayecto que en la actualidad llevaría horas recorrerlo”, señaló.

 

Asimismo, Isa agregó que el Estado dominicano diseñó este sistema orientado a generar una red de transporte público de alta calidad y disponibilidad, integrado por el nuevo monorriel, el teleférico y una red complementaria de cerca de seis corredores de autobuses que conformarán las rutas alimentadoras troncales.

 

Conformando de esta manera, agregó, un sistema interconectado de forma física, tecnológica y tarifaria, estableciendo una oferta alternativa al vehículo privado y reduciendo los niveles de congestión en el centro urbano.

 

La bendición del acto estuvo a cargo del obispo auxiliar de la provincia de Santiago, monseñor Tomás Morel.

 

Sobre el Monorriel

Este nuevo método de transporte forma parte del Sistema Integrado de Transporte (SIT), diseñado por el Estado dominicano para la integración física, tecnológica y tarifaria de los distintos medios de transporte público de la ciudad en beneficio de los usuarios y del medio ambiente.

 

El Monorriel se trasladará sobre una estructura de rieles en hormigón armado, en un viaducto que atravesará toda la ciudad desde Cienfuegos hasta Pekín en un recorrido de 15 kilómetros, con 16 estaciones y una terminal central de integración con el teleférico.

 

Incidiendo, de esta manera, en los sectores de mayor población y los principales lugares de trabajo de la ciudad.

 

El sistema tendrá una velocidad máxima de 80 kilómetros por hora, con un tren cada 90 segundos en hora pico. Tendrá una capacidad para 580 pasajeros por cada tren, distribuidos en 4 vagones de 145 pasajeros cada uno.

 

La terminal central concentrará los servicios públicos (de la JCE Electoral, Licencia de Conducir, DGII, Corasaan, Edenorte y servicios del ayuntamiento), edificio profesional y más de 5,000 metros cuadrados en 33 locales comerciales que proveerán ingresos adicionales al Sistema Integrado de Transporte (SIT) de la ciudad de Santiago.

 

Se ha diseñado un método de pago integrado que cubra todos los servicios de transporte que ofrece el Estado dominicano, aceptando diferentes instrumentos de pagos bancarios como tarjetas de crédito, tarjetas de débito, las tarjetas del Sistema Integrado de Transporte del INTRANT así como otros medios electrónicos.
