Presidente Abinader: “En estos tres años de gobierno hemos aumentado la disponibilidad de agua en más de un 21% en el Gran Santo Domingo e instalado 400 kilómetros de tuberías”

_Mandatario inaugura primera fase rehabilitación y ampliación del acueducto barrera de salinidad que beneficiará a 1.8 millones de habitantes._

El presidente Luis Abinader dijo hoy que desde su llegada al gobierno, y en estos 3 años de gestión, se ha aumentado en 21 por ciento la disponibilidad de agua para barrios del Gran Santo Domingo a los cuales no llegaba el líquido.

De igual modo, el mandatario dijo que se han instalado más 400 kilómetros de tuberías en el Gran Santo Domingo, para beneficiar a sus residentes que no tenían como recibir el agua.

Al recordar que sin agua no hay calidad de vida, y de que el preciado líquido es un servicio básico de los ciudadanos, el presidente Abinader, aseguró que desde el inicio de su gobierno se le ha tomado una atención especial.

Hablando durante la inauguración de la primera fase de rehabilitación y ampliación del Acueducto Barrera de Salinidad abandonado durante 20 años, el mandatario resaltó que la obra beneficiará a más de 1.8 millones de habitantes

El presidente de la República, dejó en funcionamiento, junto al director general de la Corporación del Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Santo Domingo (CAASD), Felipe Suberví (Fellito), la primera fase de rehabilitación del Acueducto Oriental Barrera de Salinidad ubicado en el Distrito Municipal de San Luis.

“Hemos aumentado la disponibilidad de agua escuchen bien, hemos aumentado la disponibilidad de agua en más de un 21% por ciento desde que llegamos al gobierno en el Gran Santo Domingo y hemos hecho más de 400 kilómetros de tuberías en estos tres años de gestión en los barrios del Gran Santo Domingo”, recalcó Abinader.

Además, manifestó que para el año que viene con esos dos metros cúbicos que faltan se va a subir entre un 8 y 10% más la disponibilidad de agua cuando culmine la ampliación del acueducto.

El mandatario expresó que el tema del agua desde el principio del gobierno se le ha tomado una atención especial porque es un servicio básico de los ciudadanos y sin agua no hay calidad de vida.

*Aumento en el presupuesto*

Dijo que en el caso del Instituto Nacional de Aguas Potables y Alcantarillados (INAPA) y después venir a la Corporación del Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Santo Domingo (CAASD) prácticamente se ha multiplicado por cinco el presupuesto que recibían y se ha aumentado en todo el país también la disponibilidad de agua potable.

El mandatario, precisó que el caso de la CAASD se ha ayudado y apoyado desde el Gobierno, pero que gracias a la buena administración de Fellito, este ha logrado que con recursos propios se pueda hacer esta obra.

*Abandonado durante 20 años*

El gobernante indicó que desde el gobierno se ha recuperado en la CAASD y en el INAPA, pero especialmente en la CAASD todos los acueductos sin importar quién lo construyó, porque lo importante es que le den servicio a la población dominicana. “Yo no quiero hablar de porque esto estuvo abandonado durante 20 años y eso se lo dejo a la población y que se haga cada vez un análisis porque esa barbaridad”.

El mandatario aclaró que a su llegada al gobierno no se encontró un solo plan para el futuro de como abastecer una población creciente y que desde hace más de dos años y medio se ha estado diseñando y contratando expertos para que digan que se debe hacer para poder satisfacer el agua y la demanda creciente de un Gran Santo Domingo que cada semana se le añade un nuevo sector en los diferentes municipios de esta zona.

*Estudian más soluciones*

Además, el presidente Abinader explicó que se está estudiando cual es la mejor solución con diseño más específicos, oportunidades como una presa en Don Juan, la ya modificada presa del río Haina u otras posibilidades para aumentar la disponibilidad de agua en el Gran Santo Domingo, especialmente en la zona del Distrito Nacional y Santo Domingo Oeste. “Porque con el aumento que estamos haciendo aquí con este acueducto la zona este va a estar bastante bien servida que es una zona creciente y que es además el 50% del Gran Santo Domingo”.

Dijo que se están atendiendo las urgencias y se esta planificando el corto, el mediado y el largo plazo como debe hacer cualquier buena gerencia.

Asimismo, el mandatario instó a las autoridades a cuidar las nuevas instalaciones y hizo un llamado a toda la población dominicana, en especial a la del Gran Santo Domingo “si bien tenemos mayor disponibilidad del agua, el agua tenemos que usarla con mayor racionalidad y con mayor eficiencia.

*Recuperación de la capacidad instalada de la infraestructura*

De su lado, Suberví explicó que esta primera fase consistió en la recuperación de la capacidad instalada de la infraestructura para producir cuatro metros cúbicos de agua potable que beneficiará a miles de habitantes del municipio de Santo Domingo Este.

“El año que viene, Dios mediante seguiremos mejorando la producción, cuando culminemos la ampliación de los 2 m3 que son alrededor de 45 millones de galones, de los cuales será llevado 1 m3 a Santo Domingo Norte, equivalente a 23 millones de galones y la otra cantidad destinada para Santo Domingo Este”, explicó.

La inversión de la obra es de 97 millones de dólares por parte del Banco de Desarrollo de América Latina, antigua Corporación Andina de Fomento y una contrapartida de 45 millones de dólares de parte del gobierno dominicano que beneficiará a más de 1.8 millones de habitantes de los municipios Santo Domingo Este y Norte, cuando se complete la segunda fase en el 2024, cuya producción estará ampliada a 6 m3 de agua potable por segundo.

Entre los trabajos de rehabilitación realizados, el director de la CAASD mencionó la sustitución de 8 equipos de bombeos de 10,600 galones por minuto, equipados con motores de 400 hp (caballos de fuerza) en la obra de toma.

Asimismo, la sustitución de 8 equipos de bombeos de 10,600 galones por minuto, equipados con motores de 800 hp, así como la sustitución de 8 paneles eléctricos y otros 8 más en aguas claras.

*Rehabilitación y mantenimiento de la planta física*

También, destacó la rehabilitación de la planta física, pintura, mantenimiento de compuertas de unidades de tratamiento, acondicionamiento de las áreas verdes, climatización de las áreas donde están los paneles eléctricos, mantenimiento a las 6 válvulas tipo mariposa, entre otros trabajos.

“Hoy estamos inaugurando la primera fase de ampliación de este acueducto, una prioridad de nuestro gobierno que encabeza el presidente Luis Abinader, y un reclamo por décadas de estas demarcaciones la escasez de agua”, expresó.

El titular de la CAASD dijo que estas mejoras aumentarán significativamente la capacidad de reserva, pasando de 57 mil metros cúbicos a 142 mil. “Con esta entrega, el Gobierno dominicano reafirma su compromiso con el bienestar de la población, garantizando el acceso sostenible y seguro al vital recurso del agua. La culminación de esta etapa representa un paso importante hacia el fortalecimiento de la infraestructura hídrica del país”, resaltó el funcionario.
