Israel manifiesta haber retomado el control en el sur y concentra tropas cerca de la Franja de Gaza.

El ejército israelí informó el lunes haber retomado el control de localidades del sur del país atacadas por Hamás cerca de la Franja de Gaza, cuyo «asedio completo» fue ordenado como respuesta a la ofensiva sin precedentes del grupo islamista palestino.

En el tercer día de este ataque inédito, comparado por Israel a los atentados en Estados Unidos del 11 de septiembre de 2001, el ejército israelí anunció que «controla» localidades del sur donde había infiltrados de Hamás, pero admitió que «podría haber aún terroristas en la zona», según un portavoz militar.

Más de 700 israelíes han perdido la vida en el ataque y 2.150 resultaron heridos, según un nuevo balance publicado por el ejército el lunes por la mañana.

Los milicianos de Hamás podrían haber matado hasta 250 personas que participaban en una festival de música cerca del enclave palestino, según la oenegé Zaka que ayudó en las operaciones de recuperación de los cadáveres.

Del lado palestino, 436 personas murieron, según las últimas cifras de las autoridades locales.

Decenas de miles de soldados israelíes están siendo desplegados cerca de la Franja de Gaza, un empobrecido territorio con 2,3 millones de habitantes, controlado por Hamás desde 2007.

El ministro israelí de Defensa, Yoav Gallant, ordenó este lunes un «asedio completo» del enclave.

«Estamos imponiendo un asedio total a Gaza (…) ni electricidad, ni comida, ni agua, ni gas, todo cerrado», dijo Gallant en un videos.

«Estamos combatiendo contra animales», agregó Gallant.

En el interior del pequeño territorio, más de 123.000 personas se han visto obligadas a dejar sus casas, indicó el lunes la Oficina de Coordinación de Asuntos Humanitarios de la ONU (OCHA).

REHENES CIVILES Y MILITARES
El ejército israelí concentra también sus esfuerzos en salvar a los ciudadanos secuestrados por Hamás, más de un centenar según el gobierno, algo que nunca había sucedido en la historia del país.

«Lo que pasó no tiene precedentes en Israel», reconoció el primer ministro, Benjamin Netanyahu.

Según el ejército israelí, participaron en «la invasión de Israel» un millar de combatientes de Hamás, afirmó un portavoz en X (ex-Twitter).
