El presidente de la Unión de Pequeños y Medianos Industriales de la Harina (Umpih), Isachaart Burgos, desmintió este martes que el pan vaya a subir de precio como anunciaron varios comerciantes el pasado lunes.
“En el día de hoy nos sentimos con la necesidad de desmentir la información difundida en el día de ayer por personas que son ajenas a la Umpih”,
Explicó que el pan se vende a cinco pesos y seguirá vendiéndose a ese precio por la compensación de 500 pesos por saco que le entrega el Gobierno a la Umpih.
“Los costos de producción que nosotros manejamos con miembros de esta institución, pequeños y grandes, no tienen la justificación de subir un 100 % el precio de nuestro producto”, indicó Burgos.
Además, para que el precio del pan no suba, el gobierno dominicano subsidia más del 50 % de los sacos de harina que procesan los miembros de la Umpih.
“Lo que se había acordado era de 500 pesos por saco de harina para el pan de agua y sobao de cinco pesos. Eso cubría aproximadamente entre 6,500 y 7,000 sacos por día”, indicó el presidente de la Umpih, Isachaart Burgos, al tiempo de señalar que diariamente están procesando alrededor de 12,000 sacos de harina.
La Umpih tiene cerca de 3,000 procesadores de la harina, compuestos por panaderías, reposterías, fabricantes de pizza, empanadas, galletas, entre otros.
