Bandas haitianas penetran en zona franca en la frontera con República Dominicana.

Un grupo de haitianos que pertenece a bandas de ese país penetró este jueves a la zona franca de Codevi, situado en la comuna de Juana Méndez, próximo a la zona fronteriza de Dajabón, República Dominicana.

Alrededor de la 1:00 de la tarde,las bandas ingresaron a esa área donde trabajan miles de dominicanos y otros extranjeros.

 

La zona franca se encuentra militarizada por miembros de Ejército Dominicano, así como del Cuerpo Especializado de Seguridad Fronteriza Terrestre (Cesfront).

 

De acuerdo con informaciones, el grupo de empleados pudo salir de ese lugar sin contratiempo alguno.

 

Situación en Haití

Este jueves terminan los tres días de huelga en Puerto Príncipe debido al alto costo de los combustibles. No obstante, se espera que, como en las últimas semanas, las manifestaciones no cesen en las distintas provincias de ese país.

Haití se sume cada vez más en una crisis sociopolítica que parece no tener salida. Las instituciones públicas y las empresas privadas están cerradas y la escasez de combustible es cada vez más real, todo ello acompañado de una violencia que ha llevado a la embajada de Estados Unidos a aconsejar a sus ciudadanos abandonar Haití. Sin embargo, el ministro haitiano de Asuntos Exteriores, Jean Victor Généus, aseguró recientemente ante el Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU que «la situación está globalmente bajo control en Haití».

En una reunión del Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU, República Dominicana reiteró el tema haitiano, enfatizando la necesidad de mejorar el apoyo internacional en materia de seguridad a la Policía Nacional de Haití, así como en los esfuerzos para combatir los altos niveles de violencia en ese país.

 

El canciller Roberto Álvarezdestacó que el Gobierno dominicano considera que las gestiones de estabilización en Haití tienen que estar enfocadas en la pacificación inmediata y en el diálogo político como únicas vías adecuadas para enfrentar la violencia y el caos.
