Visas de trabajo en Puerto Rico serán duro golpe a los viajes ilegales»

Samaná, República Dominicana– El senador  Pedro Catrain, al participar de una entrevista en el dia de ayer vía  telefónica en el programa Enfoque 4, que se trasmite a la 4 de la tarde por Paloma 103.9 FM manifestó, visas de trabajo en Puerto Rico serán duro golpe a los viajes ilegales.

El senador explicó que los viajes ilegales son causados por la desigualdad y la falta de empleo que son problemas estructurales del país y de la provincia que en vez de resolverse se agrabaron durante los gobiernos pasados.

Dijo, además que los «náufragos de Sánchez» son solo una pequeña muestra de la trágica historia de los viajes ilegales a Puerto Rico que se realizan en frágiles embarcaciones saliendo desde distintos puntos de la costa.

En ese sentido, Catrain informó que gestiona con el gobiernos dominicano y de los Estados Unidos acelerar el proceso para que los trabajadores dominicanos y especialmente los de Samaná sean elegibles para las visas H-2B que les permite trabajar en la reconstrucción de la vecina isla de Puerto Rico.

«Me he puesto en contacto con la oficina de Jenifer González, comisionada de Puerto Rico con asiento en Whasintong, para agilizar las visas H-2B de modo que nuestros jóvenes puedan viajar y trabajar temporalmente en Puerto Rico», expresó el senador de Samaná al indicar que la vecina isla está demandando más de 50 mil trabajadores de distintas nacionalidades.

Declaró que recientemente la representante Jenifer González junto al congresista de origen dominicano Adriano Espaillat y una comisión bicameral del Congreso de los Estados Unidos enviaron una carta al departamento de Estado para que se incluyan a los dominicanos en la lista de los elegibles para resolver la escasez de mano de obra que afecta a Puerto Rico.

«Los viajes ilegales se han convertido en una tragedia de luto y dolor en la provincia Samaná siendo el capítulo más reciente el relato de los náufragos de Sánchez», manifestó el senador Catrain tras solidarizarse con las familias de los náufragos rescatados ayer y exhortar al gobierno a agilizar los trámites para las visas de trabajo en Puerto Rico.

Agregó que en Puerto Rico el pago de la hora de trabajo se ha duplicado y esa es una de las razones que empujan a nuestra juventud a lanzarse al mar en busca de oportunidades de ingresos que no tienen en nuestro país y que «el presidente Abinader trabaja para resolver».

Pedro Catrain recordó que el presidente encontró una economía devastada por la pandemia y que ha ido dando pasos certeros para la recuperación, pero precisó que esto se tomará tiempo debito al impacto de la crisis económica mundial desatada por la invasión de Rusia a Ucrania.

«Estoy en una lucha constante  para agilizar el proceso y los trámites burocráticos para que a la mayor brevedad posible nuestra gente de Samaná, nuestros obreros especializados de la construcción, puedan viajar y trabajar temporalmente en Puerto Rico para acabar con esta historia de náufragos y dolor que afecta a nuestra querida provincia», indicó Catrain.
