Varios perecieron dentro de sus vehículos arrastrados por las inundaciones y nueve aplastados por muro del desnivel de la avenida 27 de Febrero.
Las constantes y fuertes lluvias que desde el pasado viernes afectan al país han llevado luto a decenas de familias dominicanas con casi treinta muertos.
Hasta las primeras horas vespertinas de este domingo, el municipio más afectado es Santo Domingo Oeste con 14 de 29 decesos.
Cinco de los muertos en el citado municipio se produjeron dentro de una yipeta al ahogarse sus viajeros, mientras otras tres personas murieron también por asfixia, atrapadas en su residencia en Manoguayabo, cuando, producto de la caída de una pared, el agua se agolpó sin darle tiempo de salir.
Las autoridades reportaron, igualmente, una persona que se ahogó en su carro en la Cañada de Manoguayabo, en la calle que comunicada a esa comunidad con Hato Nuevo.
La información preliminar la ofreció Fausto Jiménez, director de la Defensa Civil, quien informó, además, la muerte de otras dos personas en el Café de Herrera, producto de una pared que se derribó a causa de los aguaceros.
Entre los fallecidos reportados después del mediodía se encuentran un hombre y dos mujeres, identificadas preliminarmente como Altagracia, Dariza y Morillo, todos mayores de edad, arrastradas por un deslizamiento de tierra en el sector Bellas Colinas, también en Santo Domingo Oeste.
El hombre y las dos mujeres murieron a las 9:00 de la noche del sábado cuando, producto de las intensas lluvias, se generó un derrumbe que afectó a cuatro personas. Una pudo ser rescatada con vida.
El otro de los fallecidos, en Manoguayabo, fue un menor de edad que resultó electrocutado, indicó Jiménez. Aún se desconocen los datos del menor.
Médico que iba a celebrar cumpleaños, entre 9 muertos de avda 27 de Febrero
El exdirector del Servicio Nacional de Salud, Chanel Rosa informó que entre los muertos en el desnivel está el doctor Eduardo Cabrera, «quien regresaba del aeropuerto con unos amigos que llegaron de Puerto Rico para celebrar un cumpleaños en Punta Cana».
«Todos murieron en la 27 de febrero con Gomez», publicó en X, antigua Twitter, Rosa.
Al finalizar las operaciones de rescate, el Cuerpo de Bomberos notificó que entre los fallecidos se encontraron cinco cadáveres femeninos y cuatro masculinos.
Los restos de los últimos cinco fallecidos fueron recuperados alrededor de las 10:30 de la noche y fueron extraídos de un solo automóvil.
Por el momento, entre los fallecidos en la avenida 27 de Febrero fueron identificados son, además del médico, María Nereida Martínez, quien estaba en estado de embaro de tres meses, y su esposo (no se identificó su nombre). A ellos se unieron el matrimonio compuesto por Ramón Martínez y Awilda Sánchez, que eran los padres de la mujer embarazada. También Omar Méndez Avilés y su hija Solange Méndez
Otra víctima cuyo vehículo fue arrastrado en Higüey
En el municipio Higüey, una persona perdió la vida el vehículo en el que viajaba junto a otras personas ser arrastrado por las aguas del arroyo Santa Clara de esa ciudad.
La víctima mortal ha sido identificada como Anabel Núñez Jiménez, de 19 años. De los sobrevivientes se desconoce su condición de salud.
Murió al intentar alertar a la comunidad de un peligro en Sabana Larga, en la provincia San José de Ocoa, lloran a Gregorio Salvador Castillo Ortiz, un joven de 32 años, quien murió tras el colapso del puente Las Vacas en la misma comunidad.
El joven era empleado del Ayuntamiento y vivía cercano al puente. A eso de las 3:00 de la madrugada del sábado se disponía a dar la voz de alerta a la comunidad debido a movimientos y prolongados socavones que iba dejando el aumento del caudal del Arroyo Las Vacas.

Un hombre falleció al caerle una pared encima en la zona en que residía próximo al cementerio municipal «Don Américo Melo», en Barahona, y fue identificado como Camilo Sánchez,
También pereció el nacional haitiano Sansale Oguile, de 50 años de edad, arrastrado por el desbordamiento del río Los Arroyos el pasado sábado por la tarde en Polo, Barahona. Ambos decesos fueron reportado a Diario Libre por el periodista Omar Medina.
Pared mata a una joven en La Zurza, Distrito Nacional
Dahiana Heredia, de 20 años de edad, perdió la vida al ser aplastada cuando una casa en construcción cayó sobre su habitación, hecha de tablas y zinc, en el sector La Zurza, en el Distrito Nacional.
Dejó en la orfandad dos niñas de 6 y 2 años de edad.
El hecho ocurrió aproximadamente a las 7:30 de la noche. La víctima estuvo en su casa desde las 5:00 p.m. resguardada tras las alertas que emitieron las autoridades.
Ante el hecho, los comunitarios de la localidad denunciaron que ninguna autoridad estatal acudió en auxilio por el desastre ni por las inundaciones, lo que provocó que el cuerpo de Dahiana se mantuviera aplastado por horas sin ser sacado.
Expresaron que las autoridades «hicieron muy poco» para las obras de rescate y que se sintieron auxiliados por un agente policial que vive cerca y que colaboró con el rescate.
Muere mujer al vehículo ser arrastrada por crecida del río Yuna
Una guagua fue arrastrada con tres personas a bordo por la fuerte corriente de agua en la zona baja del río Yuna, en la autovía del nordeste tramo Guaraguao-Arenoso, provincia Duarte, en cuyo suceso falleció una mujer falleció.
Por el momento se desconoce el nombre de la victima, mientras que los otros dos que iban en el vehículo fueron rescatados con vida por un comunitario.
La información que ofreció el hombre quien dijo llamarse José Antonio Paredes alias (Jack Veneno), indica que no pudo salvar la mujer porque estaba enredada con unos alambres de púa, de los usados para cercar empalizadas en los campos.
«Ellos iban ahí en la guagua, y cuando llegan allí, la guagua le dio reversa para atrás y no les dio tiempo a nada y se fueron, yo me tiro por aquí y saqué la mujer y la enganché en una mata de guama, la otra no pude sacarla porque estaba dentro de los alambres».
La fuerte corriente del río ocupó el referido tramo carretero ya que se encuentra desbordado fruto de las lluvias causadas por el disturbio que afectó al país el viernes y ayer sábado.
