Francisca creció en el seno de una familia de escasos recursos que vivía en una casa con techo de zinc, en su natal Azua, y la cual disponía de un baño que estaba ubicado en el patio, a la usanza campesina. En base a melaza, perseverancia y talento cambió esa realidad, encontrando en Estados Unidos la miel del amor (este viernes se casa en La Romana) y un puesto de lujo en la televisión hispana.

Cuando tenía cinco años (ahora tiene 32) su padre falleció, así que creció junto a su madre Divina Montero y sus hermanos, con quienes tuvo que soportar maltratos por parte de quien fue su padrastro.

Desde niña, Francisca Antonia Méndez Montero, su nombre de pila, fue una chica soñadora que sentía una musiquita por dentro que la hizo querer superarse y lograr hacer un cambio en la situación de su familia, algo que consiguió con esfuerzo y preparación.

Su gran sueño siempre fue ser actriz y poder actuar junto a ‘galanes’ de telenovelas, algo que logró cuando en 2016 actuó en la telenovela ‘Despertar Contigo’, donde dio vida al personaje de ‘Amanda’y, además en 2018 participó en la película dominicana ‘El fantasma de mi novia’.

También estuvo entre 2008 y 2010 participando en shows de comedias dominicanos como ‘Titirimundaty’y ‘Boca de Piano es un show’.

Cuando tenia 20 años, dejó atrás sus estudios y las inseguridades que tenía, y tomo la decisión de viajar a Estados Unidos, convirtiéndose en la primera persona de su familia que viajaba a tan corta edad.

En Norteamérica no contaba con una vivienda digna, ni tenía dinero para comprar ropa y comida todos los días. Muchas veces estuvo desempleada, y se le hizo difícil vivir en un país en el que el idioma natal no es el español.

“Mi mamá me dijo, no te quedes, ve y vuelve, pero me quedé, me quedé en condición de indocumentada, fueron unos momentos muy duros porque yo estaba sola, yo pasé hambre en un país de tanta abundancia”, dijo la dominicana en una ocasión en la que habló sobre esa etapa de su vida.

Durante un año, estuvo en una complicada situación económica, pero eso cambió cuando empezó a ver el mundo de otra manera.

“Entendí que Dios me estaba pasando por el fuego para prepararme, porque me faltaba mucho carácter y mucha personalidad, y él quería enseñarme que yo era más fuerte de lo que imaginaba”. comentó la comunicadora.

Nuestra Belleza Latina 2015

En 2015 tomó la decisión de participar en el reality show ‘Nuestra Belleza Latina’, concurso que ganó por su belleza, talento y carisma, pese a las críticas de personas que considerabán que ella no contaba con los atributos físicos que debe tener una reina de belleza.
En la audición del mismo llegó diciendo: “De Azua para el mundo”, con un humor, una gracia y una ingenuidad que cautivó al jurado que estaba integrado por Daniel Arenas, Gomari Goyso y Verónica Bastos.

“En realidad me considero una guerrera de la vida, porque a mis 20 años decidí dejarlo todo en mi país por venir a un lugar donde yo no conocía absolutamente a nadie”, dijo entre lágrimas en su audición.

Se convirtió en la ganadora luego de obtener el 42.8% de los votos, por lo que obtuvo $200,000 dólares en premios, un contrato por una año como presentadora de Univisión y un Kia Soul.

Luego de obtener la corona, regresó a República Dominicana para celebrar su triunfo junto al pueblo quisqueyano que la recibió con amor y orgullo en las calles de Azua.

Su victoria es una oportunidad que recibió con mucho agradecimiento, y que ha usado para dar esperanza a personas que muchas veces sienten que no lograrán sus metas .

En muchas ocasiones, la actriz ha hablado respecto a eso en «Despierta América», en una de las cuales dijo: “Yo quiero que la gente entienda que no existen limites para soñar y que por más difícil que se le pongan las cosas tienen que empujar, porque después de ese empujón tan grande es que vendrá su gran bendición”.


Actualmente labora como conductora en el programa matutino de entretenimiento ‘Despierta América’, de Univisión, donde también hace el papel de ‘Mela, la Melaza’, el cual ha sido el más popular de su etapa televisiva.

“A veces yo no sé si el personaje me hace a mí o soy yo que lo hago a él”, comentó en una ocasión en la que habló sobre este.

Vida familiar

El primer esposo de Francisca fue Rocky Lachapel, un empresario dominicano con quien estuvo casada del 2010 al 2016, cuando definitivamente se separaron.
En un momento se llegó a pensar que el hecho de haberse coronado como Nuestra Belleza Latina la había alejado de él.

Sin embargo, ella aclaró luego que eso no tuvo nada que ver y que ni su vida profesional ni terceros en discordia fueron los culpables de la decisión que tomaron de no seguir juntos porque andaban en busca de objetivos diferentes.

Luego de romper con su pareja, se reencontró con el amor más adelante. Ya en diciembre de 2018 se encontraba vacacionando en Dubai junto a su nuevo suspiro, el italiano, Francesco Zampogna, quien aprovechó la ocasión para pedirle matrimonio.
En 2019 se casaron en una ceremonia civil que se celebró en las playas de Newport en Florida y el 7 de julio de 2021 se convirtieron en los padres de Gennaro Zampogna.

Este viernes, 6 de mayo, la comunicadora y actriz dominicana se casará por la iglesia con Francesco y la boda será en La Romana, al este de República Dominicana.

Al principio de la semana, la presentadora estaba en busca de su vestido de novia y lo dejó saber: «Hoy es un día muy importante porque esta que está aquí va a buscar opciones de vestidos de novia. Tengo una idea más o menos de lo que quiero y todo el que me conoce puede imaginarse».

El miércoles, la beldad dominicana arribó a República Dominicana para la ceremonia nupcial, según lo evidenció en una fotografía en Instagram junto a un mensaje: «Buenooooo! Ya llegué! Tamo en boda!».
Promesa cumplida. Con emoción y orgullo, en 2017 cumplió una promesa que se hizo de joven, la cual era hacerle una casa a su madre para poder devolverle aunque sea un poco de todo lo que ella le había dado.

“Tantas veces que se lo prometí, tantas veces que le pedí a Dios que me diera trabajo y que me ayudara con dinero para poder permitirle a mi madre vivir en un lugar decente… Cuando entré y vi a mi mamá dentro de esa casa que yo algún día le prometí le iba a hacer, es el momento más importante de mi vida”.
En ese mismo año fue una de las conductoras de los Premios Soberano y recibió un premio en la categoría ‘Comunicador (a) destacado en el extranjero’, el cual también gano en 2018.

Por su labor en Despierta América, el programa anual ‘Premios Tv y Novelas’ la nominó en la categoría ‘Conductor (a) Revelación, en la cual resulto ganadora en 2017.

Curiosidades. Es conocida como ‘Francisca Lachapel’, pero el apellido pertenece a su exmarido, Rocky Lachapel, por lo cual el 15 de marzo de 2022 anunció que su nombre artístico será simplemente ‘Francisca’.
La conductora cuenta con más de 3.6 millones de seguidores en Instagram, con los que comparte fotos junto a su familia, de su trabajo y momentos importantes de su vida.
