Reino Unido ampliará línea de crédito para República Dominicana a 4,000 millones de libras esterlinas

_Embajador Británico en RD, dice que esto refleja la confianza en el gobierno dominicano y en el desempeño de la economía y se trata de una de las coberturas país más extensas de la región de Latinoamérica y el Caribe._

Santo Domingo. – El presidente Luis Abinader recibió este martes en el Palacio Nacional al embajador Británico para la República Dominicana, Mockbul Alí, donde se dio a conocer que por la confianza en la economía dominicana, el Gobierno del Reino Unido ampliará la línea de crédito al país a 4,000 millones de libras esterlinas.

El embajador Británico expresó además que, en virtud de la confianza que el Reino Unido tiene en la República Dominicana, su gobierno y en el desempeño de su economía en los últimos años, se llevará a cabo la firma de un Memorándum de Entendimiento (MdE).

Dijo que, este Memorándum de Entendimiento le dará acceso a la República Dominicana a recursos para la ejecución de proyectos estratégicos de infraestructura, incluyendo, de agua, salud pública y transporte, dotándola con una de las coberturas país más extensas de la región de Latinoamérica y el Caribe con hasta 4 mil millones de libras esterlinas en financiamiento.

El diplomático precisó que este MdE es parte de una cooperación más amplia que refleja el fortalecimiento de la relación bilateral a lo largo de más de 170 años de amistad, y que hoy alcanza nuevas alturas. El mismo será firmado en el Palacio Nacional en los próximos días.

El Embajador de Su Majestad Británica, Mockbul Ali, expresó: “El gobierno británico se enorgullece en sobremanera de la fortaleza sin precedentes de esta relación bilateral y como resultado de ello, estaremos firmando este Memorándum de Entendimiento que, por primera vez, pondrá a la disposición de la República Dominicana hasta 4 mil millones de libras esterlinas, para ejecutar proyectos sociales y de desarrollo económico de envergadura.

Y agregó: “Esto demuestra la confianza que el Reino Unido tiene sobre el gobierno y la economía dominicana como un líder regional de valores compartidos”.

En el encuentro también participó Joel Santos, ministro de la Presidencia; José Julio Gómez, viceministro de Política Exterior Bilateral del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, Graham Jessup, subjefe de Misión y Gerson Pérez, encargado comercial de la Embajada Británica.
