El presidente de la República Dominicana Luis Abinader concluyó la primera etapa de su visita a Washington, agotando los temas de agenda que se había propuesto en el día de hoy.

El mandatario dominicano que arribó a la capital norteamericana pasadas las 12:00 del mediodía, salió del aeropuerto directamente al Capitolio donde le esperaba Nancy Pelosi, presidenta de la Cámara de Representantes, con quien conversó por más de media hora.

De ahí se trasladó a la sede del Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID) donde sostuvo una reunión con su presidente Mauricio Claver-Carone y otros funcionarios.

Posteriormente, Abinader se trasladó a la sede de la Agencia Internacional de Desarrollo (USAID), cuya administradora, Samantha Power, le recibió a la entrada del edificio -para sorpresa incluso de su personal- conduciéndolo hasta su despacho.

La jornada de este día del presidente Abinader en la capital estadounidense, concluyó con otra reunión en el Capitolio, esta vez con el senador Bob Menéndez, jefe del Comité de Relaciones Exteriores del Congreso de Estados Unidos.

Para este día, el jefe del Estado dominicano será recibido por miembros del Congreso de los Estados Unidos, en el Capitolio, actividad que será organizada por el congresista de origen dominicano, Adriano Espaillat. El encuentro está fijado para las diez de la mañana.

 

Asimismo, el gobernante sostendrá una reunión con el director del hemisferio occidental del Consejo de Seguridad, Juan González y con Philip Gordon, Asesor de Seguridad Nacional de la vicepresidenta de Estados Unidos.

 

Reunión con Kamala Harris

 

Más adelante, el jefe de Estado y la vicepresidenta de los Estados Unidos, Kamala Harris, sostendrán un encuentro pautado a las 12:10 meridiano en la residencia oficial para los invitados del presidente de los Estados Unidos (Blair House).

De igual manera, el mandatario sostendrá una reunión con el secretario general de la Organización de los Estados Americanos (OEA), Luis Almagro y asistirá a una sesión protocolar en el Consejo Permanente de la OEA.

 

El mandatario viajó este miércoles en horas de la mañana en visita oficial hacia Washington, capital de los Estados Unidos, acompañado del ministro de Relaciones Exteriores, Roberto Álvarez; sus asistentes Eilyn Beltrán y Lourdes Herrera; José Singer, asesor en Política Exterior del Poder Ejecutivo; así como miembros de su equipo de seguridad, encabezado por el jefe del Cuerpo de Seguridad Presidencial (CUSEP), general de brigada Jimmy Arias Grullón. El presidente Luis Abinader retornará al país el jueves en horas de la noche.
