Presidente Abinader augura el turismo este año “será el mejor de nuestra historia».

_Turismo dominicano cierra un año récord con el mejor mes de la historia del país y más de 7 millones de turistas en 2022_

 

Santo Domingo-El Presidente Luis Abinader aseguró hoy que este año 2023 será el mejor de nuestra historia en la actividad turística, y pronosticó que lo superará en 2024.

Refirió que la República Dominicana alcanzó cifras récords de visitantes mes tras mes, indicando que diciembre fue el mejor mes de la historia del turismo, superando por primera vez los 700 mil visitantes.

 

Dijo que se pudo superar el récord de llegadas de visitantes extranjeros “y estamos llegando a la cifra, nunca vista en nuestra historia, de 7 millones de turistas”, destacó el mandatario.

 

El Presidente Luis Abinader citó que la actividad turística en el país generó más de 8 mil millones de dólares en divisas durante el pasado año, constituyéndose en una base esencial de la dinámica económica y social.

 

En ese sentido, planteó que “ese es nuestro compromiso, esa es nuestra ambición: seguir creciendo, seguir haciendo la República Dominicana más grande y más líder”.

 

Abinader manifestó que la República Dominicana es historias vivas, y por eso, indicó, las autoridades no escatiman esfuerzo rescatándola de la mejor manera para que todos podamos conocerla y disfrutarla, para que el mundo la conozca y se enamore.

 

Al referirse al proceso de relanzamiento de la actividad turística nacional tras la apertura post pandemia, indicó que se adoptaron todas las medidas necesarias para levantarla y rescatarla conjuntamente con los inversionistas de las infraestructuras hoteleras establecidas en el país.

 

El mandatario anuncio que para el próximo 4 de febrero se dará el primer palazo para la construcción de los dos primeros hoteles en la provincia de Pedernales.

Sobre el particular, el Presidente Luis Abinader manifestó que “nuestra industria turística está cambiando y ha sido reconocida como la más resiliente del mundo, y este resultado es gracias al trabajo de todos los dominicanos que creemos en que podemos hacer las cosas bien, en un sector privado que se decidió a trabajar junto al gobierno para lograr la recuperación en tiempo récord, y en un gobierno que trabaja sin descanso y con transparencia para lograr un mejor país”.

De su lado, el ministro de Turismo, David Collado, ponderó que el país creció en comparación al 2019 un 10% en visitantes por vía aérea y un 20% en visitantes por vía de crucero, y dijo, además, que por primera vez se genera en turismo más de 8 mil millones de dólares en divisas.

 

Al presentar los resultados el ministro Collado informó que el pasado diciembre fue el mejor mes de la historia del turismo dominicano, superando por primera vez los tres cuartos de millón de turistas, con un total de 765,910 visitantes.

 

“Crecimos en un 10% respecto al 2019 en materia de llegada de turistas por vía aérea y crecimos en un 20% en materia de llegada de visitantes por vía de cruceros respecto a ese año, por lo que llegamos a un total sin precedentes de 8.47 millones de visitantes que tuvo la República Dominicana en 2022, gracias al trabajo de promoción con inteligencia y transparencia que estamos haciendo en esta administración”.

 

El ministro Collado resaltó que en el 2022 se rompió el récord de visitantes en cruceros que visitan el país, totalizando 1,311,129 cruceristas el año pasado.

 

En diciembre el aeropuerto que contó con la mayor llegada de turistas fue el de Punta Cana con más de 425 mil, seguido de Las Américas con unos 206 mil turistas. Mientras que el país número 1 emisor de turistas para República Dominicana lo fue Estados Unidos, seguido de Canadá, Colombia, Argentina y Alemania.

 

Otro de los datos récords que se presentó en el evento fue que por primera vez el sector turístico generó más de 8 mil millones de dólares en divisas, según los datos preliminares que se informó están pendientes de confirmación por el Banco Central, pero que se estiman en 8.6 millones de dólares en divisas.

 

En cuanto a la ocupación hotelera, se indicó que la misma alcanzó un 76% a nivel nacional en diciembre 2022, superando el 69% de ocupación que se tuvo en 2019 previo a la pandemia. Los destinos con mayor ocupación fueron Punta Cana-Bávaro y Romana-Bayahíbe con un 79% y 78% respectivamente.

 

Asistieron al acto, el Gobernador del Banco Central, Héctor Valdez Albizu; el administrador del Banco de Reservas, Samuel Pereyra; el director de la Policia Nacional, el mayor general Eduardo Alberto Then y el director general del Cuerpo Especializado en Seguridad Aeroportuaria y de la Aviación Civil (CESAC), coronel piloto Floreal Suárez Martínez, FARD; el presidente de la DNCD, contralmirante de la Armada de la República Dominicana (ARD) José Manuel Cabrera Ulloa.

 

Tambien, el director de Politur, el general de brigada, Minoru Matsunaga; los directores, del Departamento Aeroportuario, Victor Pichardo; del IDAC, Hector Porcella; de la Junta de Aviacion Civil, Hector Marte Piantini; el presidente de la Asociación de Hoteles y Turismo de la República Dominicana (Asonahores), David Llibre; el vicepresidente Ejecutivo Senior del Banco Popular, Juan Lehoux; el asesor del Ministerio de Turismo, Rafael Blanco Canto; el vicepresidente de Asonahores, Andrés Marranzini; la representante del Grupo Punta Cana, Paola Rainieri; la CEO de Aerodom, Mónika Infante y el director de la Tesoreria de la Seguridad Social, Henry Sahdalá Dumit.
