Potencial ciclón #6 podría llegar al país como tormenta y sus efectos se sentirían desde la madrugada

Santo Domingo, RD- La Oficina Nacional de Meteorología, Onamet, advierte que el potencial ciclón tropical #6 , que podría convertirse hoy en tormenta tropical, estaría muy cerca del territorio dominicano entre la madrugada y la mañana del miércoles.

 

 

De acuerdo a los modelos numéricos de predicción, se esperan valores acumulados de lluvias entre 50 y 125 milímetros, que podrían llegar hasta 150 milímetros en puntos aislados, especialmente en los sectores sureste, noreste, norte y el valle del Cibao, así como en la cordillera central.

La Onamet informa que a partir de esta tarde, de manera gradual, el oleaje se ira tornando anormal especialmente en las zonas costeras sureste, este y noreste, pudiendo presentar altura de olas entre 8 y 9 pies, por lo que los operadores de embarcaciones en zonas costeros deben dar seguimiento a los siguientes boletines, ya que se estarían emitiendo algunas restricciones.

 

 

A las 7:00 de la mañana de este martes, el potencial ciclón tropical #6 fue ubicado a unos 685 kilómetros al este/sureste de la Isla Saona y a unos 480 kilómetros al sureste de Ponce, Puerto Rico, con vientos máximos sostenidos de 55 kilómetros por hora y se mueve hacia el oeste/noroeste a unos 28 kph.

La Onamet mantiene aviso por condiciones de tormenta tropical desde Punta Palenque hasta Isla Saona y de Isla Saona hasta Cabo Francés Viejo, además mantiene un alerta por condiciones de tormenta tropical desde Cabo Francés Viejo hasta Bahía Manzanillo, en la frontera con Haití.

 

 

“Las condiciones ambientales en la que continúa moviéndose el potencial ciclón tropical #6, como son las aguas cálidas del noreste del mar Caribe, son favorables para que este sistema continúe intensificándose de forma gradual, por lo que siguen siendo altas las probabilidades de que se convierta en tormenta tropical hoy” dice el informe.
