Ministro Isa Contreras reafirma economía dominicana está en un buen momento.

En ese sentido, instituciones financieras internacionales destacan la fortaleza de la economía dominicana. Una de las opiniones más recientes fue emitida por el Bank of American de Estados Unidos, que destaca el buen desempeño del país y sus perspectivas de crecimiento mayores de lo esperado.

 

Santo Domingo, República Dominicana. A pesar de las adversidades e incertidumbres del contexto internacional, la economía dominicana está, sin dudas, en un buen momento y el desafío es lograr prolongarlo en el tiempo y traducirlo en más calidad de vida para la gente, con más y mejores empleos, y más y mejores servicios públicos.

 

Así lo afirmó el ministro de Economía, Planificación y Desarrollo, Pável Isa Contreras, quien enfatizó que “el crecimiento económico sigue viento en popa”.

 

El economista e investigador puntualizó que entre enero y julio, la economía creció en 5.5% en comparación con el mismo período de 2021.

 

En ese sentido, precisó que este es un resultado notable, pues es una cifra superior a la tasa de crecimiento histórica de la economía dominicana y todo apunta a que cerrará el año con una expansión no menor al 5%.

 

Isa Contreras detalló que el turismo, la salud, otros servicios, transporte, comercio y las zonas francas son algunos de los sectores que más han destacado.

 

“Los empleos totales se han recuperado de forma significativa. En el segundo trimestre de 2022, el total de personas ocupadas alcanzó 4.70 millones. Esto es un poco más de las que habían ocupadas antes de la pandemia (promedio 2019: 4.66 millones, y primer trimestre de 2020: 4.60 millones)”, enfatizó.

 

De acuerdo con el ministro, la inflación, que ha venido erosionando parte de los beneficios de la recuperación de los ingresos de los hogares, está cediendo. “Mientras durante los primeros tres meses del año, la inflación media mensual fue de 0.92%, en los últimos tres meses fue de 0.54%”, explicó.

 

Manifestó que este objetivo se está logrando gracias a una combinación de subsidios (a hidrocarburos, alimentos, fertilizantes, transporte y energía), menores presiones inflacionarias externas y una política monetaria más restrictiva.

 

Indicó que en 2022, la inflación cerrará en torno al 8% gracias a las acciones de contención y de no haberlas impulsado, llegaría hasta más de 15%.

 

El economista dijo que a pesar del fuerte gasto en subsidios para contener los efectos de la inflación, el balance fiscal se mantiene y se mantendrá dentro de rangos muy razonables.

 

Detalló que la expectativa es que 2022 cierre con un déficit de RD$226 mil millones, equivalente a 3.6% del PIB, RD$47 mil millones o 0.7% del PIB más de lo inicialmente programado, lo que se trata de un incremento manejable. “El crecimiento notable de los ingresos tributarios está contribuyendo a ese resultado”, afirmó.

 

En ese sentido, instituciones financieras internacionales destacan la fortaleza de la economía dominicana. Una de las opiniones más recientes fue emitida por el Bank of American de Estados Unidos, que destaca el buen desempeño del país y sus perspectivas de crecimiento mayores de lo esperado.

 

“Nos sentimos algo más optimistas sobre las perspectivas económicas de República Dominicana. El PIB está creciendo más rápido de lo que esperábamos a pesar de la crisis del petróleo”, indica la publicación de la entidad bancaria estadounidense.

 

 

Robustez del sector externo

 

El sector externo, puntualizó el ministro Isa Contreras, también muestra signos de mucha robustez y hasta junio, las exportaciones habían superado los US$7 mil millones, mil millones más que en 2021 y apuntan a que en diciembre habrán superado la barrera de los US$14 mil millones.

 

Asimismo, indicó que la inversión extranjera también está rompiendo récords, superará los

US$ 3,500 millones y alcanzará la cifra más alta en la historia.

 

De igual modo, explicó que hasta julio, los arribos de turistas (no residentes, extranjeros y nacionales) también han roto récords y los ingresos de divisas por turismo en 2022 serán los mayores jamás registrados.

 

Indicó que las remesas, si bien serán menores a las de 2021 porque han cesado las condiciones extraordinarias, serán superiores a las de años anteriores.

 

Isa Contreras dijo que el alto nivel de actividad económica y los altos precios de las materias primas han hecho que el valor total de las importaciones se incrementara sensiblemente. No obstante, expresó que la alta generación de divisas está siendo suficiente para pagar por ellas y el déficit de cuenta corriente se mantendrá bajo control.

 

Además, expresó que las reservas internacionales son las más altas registradas, poniendo al país en situación muy cómoda frente al escenario internacional.

Insistió que los desafíos, sin embargo, siguen siendo enormes y la recuperación del nivel de actividad económica debe traducirse en una aceleración en la creación de empleos de más calidad y en más empleos para mujeres y jóvenes.

 

De igual forma, concluyó que “tenemos la obligación de proveer más y mejores servicios públicos de tal forma que las personas puedan ejercer plenamente sus derechos en todos los territorios del país. Solo así podemos traducir crecimiento en calidad de vida”.
