Joel Ambioris Pimetel García (La J) es señalado como el cabecilla de una de estas redes delincuenciales, que opera y controla el sistema penitenciario dominicano. Asimismo, es el supuesto responsable de las amenazas emitidas en contra de la Procuradora General de la República, Miriam Germán, según han señalado fuentes vinculadas a la investigación.
El magistrado Osvaldo Bonilla, fiscal titular de Santiago, explicó que más de 70 fiscales están participando en los allanamientos, así como 1,300 agentes de diferentes instituciones del Estado.
“Desde las tres de la mañana unos 70, o más de 70 fiscales, y 1,300 agentes de diferentes instituciones del Estado han estado allanando e interviniendo algunos sectores de todo el Cibao Central, encabezado por Santiago, La Vega, Moca, San Francisco de Macorís y algunos centros penitenciarios de la región”, afirmó Bonilla.
La operación es encabezada por el Ministerio Público, acompañado de la Dirección Nacional de Control de Drogas (DNCD), la Policía Nacional y otros organismos de inteligencia e investigación del Estado.
