La procuradora de Corte y coordinadora de Litigación de la Procuraduría Especializada de Persecución a la Corrupción Administrativa (Pepca), Mirna Ortiz, manifestó este miércoles durante la audiencia preliminar que se le sigue a los encartados en el caso de corrupción Operación Antipulpo que Juan Alexis Medina Sánchez, hermano del expresidente Danilo Medina, se valía de sus testaferros -en este caso, de Wacal Vernavel Méndez Pineda- un hombre de su entera confianza, para no aparecer como titular de sus empresas.

«Su defensa ha sido muy pobre, pues no ha podido desmentir ni descartar las pruebas de la acusación, y por el contrario, el mismo imputado ha confirmado que entraba y salía de las empresas de Alexis Medina, dada la confianza que Alexis Medina tenía en él y la administración que hacía de dichas empresas», aseguró Ortiz.
La magistrada indicó que el objetivo de Alexis Medina era no aparecer al momento de que sus empresas contrataran con el gobierno.
De su lado, el abogado de Wacal Vernavel Méndez Pineda, Robinson Reyes, considera que ninguna de las imputaciones son elementos de pruebas.
«Los acusan de lavado de activos y el Ministerio Público no ha presentado elementos de prueba, que las propiedades que tiene Wacal Méndez, que son apartamentos sencillos, hayan sido producto de esta situación», sostuvo Reyes.
Dijo también que lo acusan de soborno, sin embargo, no se ha aportado audio ni videos que lo incriminen.
El Ministerio Público también ha señalado como testaferro a Domingo Antonio Santiago Muñoz, como un «hombre clave» que permitía camuflar múltiples propiedades, empresas y transacciones millonarias de Juan Alexis Medina Sánchez, el supuesto cabecilla del caso de corrupción administrativa desarticulado con la Operación Antipulpo.
En la audiencia de este miércoles, 16 encartados de 47 entre personas físicas y empresas, han logrado presentar alegatos de defensa.
Los alegatos son presentados ante el juez Deiby Timoteo Peguero del Séptimo Juzgado de la Instrucción del Distrito Nacional.
Las réplicas se hacen a las acusaciones contenidas en un expediente de 3,445 páginas presentado por el Ministerio Público.
El caso de corrupción administrativa y lavado de activos denominado Antipulpo involucra a dos hermanos del expresidente de la República, Danilo Medina Sánchez. Los principales acusados son Juan Alexis Medina Sánchez y su hermana, Magalis, quienes presuntamente se aprovecharon de su relación con el exjefe de Estado para ganar licitaciones en instituciones públicas.
