Fallece el narcotraficante Manuel Emilio Mesa Beltré “El Gringo”

Santo Domingo, RD– Falleció este viernes el capo Manuel Emilio Mesa Beltré “El Gringo”, quien cumplía una condena de 30 años de prisión, impuesta en mayo de 2019, por dirigir una organización criminal que se dedicaba al tráfico internacional de drogas y al lavado de activos.

 

 

El fallecimiento de Mesa Beltré, quien estaba vinculado a la red de narcotráfico del boricua José David Figueroa Agosto, fue confirmado por el director general de prisiones, Roberto Hernández Basilio.

 

«El Gringo» estaba preso en la cárcel de Najayo y falleció en el hospital de San Cristóbal.

 

El director de prisiones dijo que el condenado se puso malo, fue llevado al centro de salud la mañana de hoy, donde pereció. Indicó que están haciendo los preparativos para entregarle el cadáver a sus familiares.

 

A el Gringo se le imputaba ser uno de los principales cabecillas encargados de gestionar el lavado de activos a través de varias casas de cambio, y del tráfico en los barrios de la parte norte de la capital, especialmente en Capotillo, lo que lo llevó a ser calificado por la Policía como el “rey del microtráfico en Santo Domingo”.

 

Beltré fue detenido en octubre del 2009 por agentes del programa Barrio Seguro en la calle Juana Saltitopa, del sector Villa María de la capital, mientras se trasladaba en un vehículo BMW en el cual se ocuparon más de cuatro millones de pesos.

 

 

Beltré cumplió una medida de coerción de tres meses en la cárcel de Najayo bajo cargos de Lavado de Activos, y casi un año después de su detención, en septiembre de 2010, El Gringo fue condenado a ocho años de prisión tras ser encontrado culpable de cargos de estos mismo cargos.

 

De acuerdo con los datos que manejan los investigadores del caso, se estimó que El Gringo poseía una fortuna en bienes muebles e inmuebles que alcanzaba los 800 millones de pesos.

 

 

En 2014 la Cámara Penal de la Corte de Apelación del Distrito Nacional dispuso la libertad condicional de Beltré, con vigencia por tres años, ocho meses y 15 días, tiempo restante para cumplir su pena.

 

Sin embargo, Beltré fue detenido nuevamente en 2016 y acusado de patrocinar una red de narcotráfico internacional que reclutaba mulas para sus actividades. En esa ocasión le fue dictado a un año de prisión preventiva en la cárcel La Victoria.

 

Su actual condena de 30 años, llega luego de una investigación que se inició en 2015, mediante la cual se pudo establecer que Beltré manejaba una organización criminal internacional que llevaba años operando desde el Aeropuerto Internacional de Las Américas.
