El Centro de Operaciones de Emergencias (COE) informó que fallecieron 27 personas durante la Semana Santa.
El director de la entidad, mayor general Juan Manuel Méndez, indicó que de estas muertes, 19 fueron por motocicletas, cuatro por atropellamientos, uno por vehículo liviano y tres por asfixia por inmersión (ahogamiento).
Además, acotó que nueve personas fallecieron por accidentes de tránsito dentro del dispositivo del operativo “Conciencia por la Vida 2024” y 15 fuera del mismo.
“El 59 % de estos fallecimientos ocurrió entre las 3:00 de la tarde y 10:00 de la noche”, dijo Méndez.
ACCIDENTES
Durante el operativo, de acuerdo a la lectura del último boletín, correspondiente al consolidado, ocurrieron 212 accidentes de tránsito, en los que resultaron 274 personas afectadas.
“De estos accidentes de tránsito registrados, el 60 % de los casos involucraron motocicletas”, dijo Méndez.
El titular del COE puntuó que de los accidentes registrados, 164 involucraron motocicletas, 22 vehículos livianos, 16 atropellamientos, dos autobuses y ocho vehículos no especificados.
“De estos accidentes, 118 ocurrieron en autopistas y carreteras y 156 en cascos urbanos”, indicó.
Asimismo, dijo que de la totalidad fallecidos por accidentes de tránsito dentro y fuera del operativo de Semana Santa, los casos por motocicletas representaron el 88.9 %.
Las provincias que más accidentes registraron fueron Santo Domingo con 26 %, San Cristóbal con 10%, Puerto Plata con 8 %, La Altagracia con 5 % y el Distrito Nacional con un 5 %.
“La mayoría de los eventos contabilizados ocurrieron entre las 12:00 del mediodía hasta 11:59 de la noche”, especificó Méndez.
INTOXICACIONES
Por otro lado, dio a conocer que se atendieron 473 personas intoxicadas por alcohol, de las cuales 30 resultaron ser menores con edades comprendidas entre los 10 y 17 años.
También, dijo que se atendieron 163 personas por intoxicación alimentaria.
