El 14 de junio celebración del bautizo del movimiento que lleva el mismo nombre de la fecha.

En esta fecha, conmemoramos la fecha gloriosa en que fue bautizado el movimiento 14 de junio, encabezado por su fundador y líder el Doctor Manuel Aurelio Tavarez Justo, con el propósito de derrocar la férrea y sanguinaria dictadura de Rafael Trujillo Molina. «Chapita». Entre movimientos hay que mencionar la expedición de Cayo Confites 1947, encabezada por un grupo de militares desde la hermana República de Cuba, opuestos al régimen.

Un segundo grupo, se organizó en Guatemala encabezado por Horatio Julio Ornes, Cuewcou, quienes salieron en un avión denominado «catalina» y desembarcaron el 19 de junio de 1949, en la bahía de Luperon.

Esas dos azañas , fueron imitadas por Manolo, para la expedición de Contanza el 14 y la segunda el 20 de junio de 1959.

En ambas expediciones llegaron 198 hombres, 153 dominicanos, 22 cubanos,13 venezolanos, 5 Puertorriqueños , 2 españoles, 2 americanos y 1 guatemalteco.

Como se podrá observar, esas expediciones contaron con la solidaridad internacional de los pueblos hermanos opuestos a los regímenes dictatoriales de la época.

Esas acciones heroicas, llenaron de ira al tirano y emprendió acciones criminales como apresamientos y torturas despiadadas contra sus opositores y a la más cruel y despiada orden, como fue el asesinato de las hermanas Mirabal y su acompañante Rufino de la Cruz.

Esas acciones criminales, llenaron de indignación a la Sociedad Dominicana y un grupo de patriotas un 30 de Mayo de 1961, ajusticiaron a esa bestia humana desmantelando ese aparato militar de 30 años, 9 meses y 15 días.

Es por esas razones que llamamos a las presentes y futuras generaciones, a mantenernos vigilantes y no permitir que nuestra amada Quinqueya, vuelva a sufrir actos tan aberrantes por los cuales de derramó tanta sangre, sudor y lágrimas. porque según sentenció el ideologo Karl Marx LOS PUEBLOS QUE NO CONOCEN SU HISTORIA, ESTÁN CONDENADOS A REPETIR SUS HORRORES. LOOR A ESOS MARTIRES DE NUESTRA LIBERTAD….. FUNDACIÓN PRÓCERES DE ABRIL.
