Editrudis Beltrán fue juramentado este sábado como el nuevo rector de la Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), para el periodo 2022-2026.
El acto oficial estuvo en manos de la rectora saliente, Emma Polanco, quien fue la encargada de juramentar a Beltrán a su nuevo cargo.
“¿Juráis honrar el cargo con el que se va a investir y actuar con apego a las normas de la Ley, y a los dictados de una sana conciencia en beneficio de nuestro pueblo?”, preguntó Polanco.
“Lo juro”, respondió Beltrán, declaración que se ganó una ovación de los presentes en la ceremonia, realizada en la Aula Magna de la Primada de América que inició cerca de la 10:00 de la mañana y contó con la presencia del presidente Luis Abinader.

Las elecciones de la UASD se realizaron a mitad del mes pasado y, a pesar de no haber terminado el proceso de conteo de votos, la noche de ese día ya Beltrán se había declarado como el ganador.
En su discurso de triunfo, el catedrático universitario informó que según los datos recolectados por su equipo habían obtenido el 64% de los sufragios a su favor, con un 81% de los votos computados.
«Cuando iniciamos este camino, sabíamos que llegaría este día en que nos pararíamos frente a ustedes y me permitiría decirles gracias por permitirme dirigir la rectoría de la UASD por los próximos cuatro años», expresó Beltrán.
«Gracias por el apoyo de todos ustedes, gracias por demostrarme su apoyo y su cariño», añadió el catedrático.
Aquel día, Beltrán adelantó que en su gestión se comisionará el equipo que articulará el cronograma de acciones para resolver la problemática de las sobrepoblaciones en las aulas y la revisión de los programas formativos de todas las carreras y facultades.
Por igual dijo que su administración se basará cuidando el gasto y la transparencia, además de que volverá a la mesa de las discusiones nacionales.
