Santo Domingo, RD-El grupo armado más poderoso de Haití, G9 an Fanmi e Alye, anunció este viernes una tregua de una semana de duración para facilitar la distribución de combustible.

 

 

El líder de G9 an Fanmi e Alye, Jimmy Chérizier, alias Barbecue, anunció en una rueda de prensa que su banda desbloqueará el acceso a la terminal petrolera de Varreux, en la zona portuaria de Puerto Príncipe, y cesará sus ataques a los camioneros.

 

«La vida debe volver a la normalidad como antes», dijo Barbecue en una conferencia de prensa celebrada en La Saline, una barriada en el centro de Puerto Príncipe que está controlada por su banda.

 

 

El capo explicó que se concede la tregua por ser la víspera del 218 aniversario de la batalla de Vertières, que tuvo lugar el 18 de noviembre de 1803.

 

Barbecue invitó a los haitianos a «meditar» sobre el valor de esa efeméride, que conmemora la última batalla de la revolución haitiana, en la que los habitantes de la entonces colonia francesa derrotaron a las tropas napoleónicas.

 

«Esta tregua-reflexión es para demostrar nuestra buena fe, nuestro sentimiento y amor por nuestros hermanos del país», dijo Barbecue al leer un comunicado de tres páginas.

 

 

El cabecilla del G9 invitó a los haitianos a reflexionar sobre su petición de dimisión del primer ministro haitiano, Ariel Henry, del que dijo que es «incapaz» de gestionar el país.

 

Barbecue acusa al primer ministro de «participar en el asesinato del presidente Jovenel Moise», perpetrado por un comando de mercenarios el 7 de julio pasado.

 

El G9 bloquea la distribución de combustible desde mediados de septiembre, lo que ha causado un desabastecimiento que se ha ido agravando con el paso de las semanas, lo que ha obligado a cerrar muchas empresas e instituciones que usan generadores eléctricos de gasóleo.

 

 

A pesar de que desde hace dos semanas la Policía haitiana ha comenzado a escoltar los camiones cisterna, para retomar la distribución de carburante a los hospitales y a algunas gasolineras, el desabastecimiento continúa siendo generalizado en el país.

 

Esta última semana se han producido varios enfrentamientos entre el G9 y la Policía en las inmediaciones del Palacio Nacional, sede del poder Ejecutivo en este país caribeño, pero que está vacante desde el magnicidio.
