A pesar de que el exprocurador de la República, Jean Alain Rodríguez pidió a la prensa estar presente en la audiencia de medida de coerción que se realizará por el caso Medusa, la representación legal del exfuncionario le recomendó poner la reversa y ahora prefiere que el proceso se lleve a cabo a puertas cerrada.
Así lo dio a conocer Gustavo Biaggi Pumarol en el programa El Día.El abogado de Rodríguez indicó que a pesar de que su cliente “no ha cambiado de idea”, sí había reflexionado sobre la presencia de los medios de comunicación en la audiencia por recomendación de sus representantes, requiriendo ahora que esté ausente.
“Un juicio abierto hace un tema mediático y no necesariamente a través de él sale la verdad. Sale mucho el morbo, muchas informaciones para discusión”, explicó.
Biaggi Pumarol detalló que sugirieron a Rodríguez que «cambiara su percepción» sobre la transmisión de la medida a través de los medios, llevando a cabo un juicio cerrado, y que les permitiese al salir del juicio informar sobre los temas que se presentaron.
El abogado criticó además que en la solicitud de medida de coerción, Rodríguez es tratado como “imputado” cuando aún no le han imputado hechos.
“Es una solicitud de medida sobre alguien que no se le ha dado esa categoría”, subrayó.
A través de dos programas de radio el pasado 29 de junio, Jean Alain Rodríguez solicitó a los medios no apartarse del proceso en su contra y de los otros acusados del caso de corrupción durante su gestión al frente de la Procuraduría General de la República, esto a tan solo unas horas de que las autoridades realizaran diversos allanamientos simultáneos en Santo Domingo, La Romana y Jarabacoa.
Posteriormente, Rodríguez acudió a la Procuraduría, según dijo, de forma voluntaria, donde quedó bajo arresto.
El Ministerio Público pidió prisión preventiva para todos los implicados en la Operación Medusa, incluido Rodríguez, así como solicitó a la corte la declaración de complejidad del caso.
Además de Rodríguez, en el caso están implicados varios de sus colaboradores en la PGR: Miguel José Moya, Rafael Antonio Mercede Marte, Alfredo Alexander Solano Augusto, Rafael Stefano Canó Sacco, Javier Alejandro Forteza Ibarra, Jonnathan Josel Rodríguez Imbert, Jenny Marte Peña y Altagracia Guillén Calzado.
