Presidente Abinader dice Gobierno tiene presupuesto especial preparado para enfrentar fiebre porcina africana

Santo Domingo, RD- El presidente de la República, Luis Abinader, informó que el Gobierno tiene preparado un presupuesto especial para enfrentar el impacto de la fiebre porcina africana en varias provincias del país.

Durante un encuentro con varios productores de cerdo en la sede de la Junta Agroempresarial Dominicana (JAD), el jefe de Estado garantizó que las autoridades «ayudarán» a sobrepasar la crisis.

«Mi segunda reunión cunado inició está crisis no fue con el sector agropecuario, fue con el sector económico del gobierno donde les dije que necesitamos un presupuesto para poder enfrentar está crisis y ya lo tenemos, y lo tenemos para un plan a, un plan b, un plan c cualquiera que sea la situación», manifestó el mandatario.

Abinader aseguró que la peste porcina africana no ha pasado a las granjas de mayor producción en el país y que a los pequeños productores que se han visto afectado por el sacrificio de más de 14,000 cerdos se le ha ido entregado RD$29 millones a los primeros 80 criadores afectados y que mañana seguirán los pagos.

El presidente también valoró el control que han tenido los criadores para evitar que se expanda la enfermedad.

Hablan los productores

En medio del encuentro, los productores aseguraron que el sector mueve más de 16 MM de pesos al año y se vierte sobre varios sectores de la economía Dominicana.

«Tenemos la esperanza de que nosotros porcicultores y autoridades saldremos a camino…en estos momentos estamos enfrentándonos a un enemigo invisible pero tengan la confianza de que juntos saldremos de esta…», argumentó Israel Brito, presidente de la federación de porcicultores.

El porcicultor, Luis Brache dijo que ese sector está enfrentando dos crisis, una sanitaria y otra comercial y le solicitó a las autoridades incentivar el consumo del cerdo.

«Estamos enfrentando dos crisis ahora, una crisis sanitarias y una crisis comercial…en China hubo un decrecimiento de un 24% pero el problema no fue el cerdo, el problema fue la demanda…tenemos que buscar la forma de incentivar el consumo del cerdo, con campañas publicitarias…de esa manera se recupera el balance comercial con relación al pollo», explicó Brache.

De su lado el presidente de la JAD, Osmar Benítez, manifestó que el sector está preparado para compensar la producción de cerdos en el país en caso de que sea necesario.

«La República Dominicana cuenta con dos de los centros de la genética porcina más avanzadas del mundo…pocos dominicanos saben que estas 2 empresas, cuentan con un banco de semen de 300 machos de alta genética, suficientes para inseminar 50,000 madres en el proceso de reposición de la producción nacional», expresó Benítez.

El exfuncionario aseguró que el 70% de la producción nacional de cerdos se genera en casi 400 granjas «modernas» y que esas granjas siguen el más estricto protocolo de bioseguridad establecido por las autoridades dominicanas y por la Organización Internacional de Sanidad Animal (OIE)» , dijo el presidente de la JAD.

El presidente consume el cerdo

En medio de la incertidumbre que ha generado el brote de la Fiebre Porcina Africana en los cerdos de varios pueblos del país y que incluso ha disminuido la venta de la carne del animal en los mercados, el presidente consumió el producto e insistió al pueblo dominicano a hacer lo mismo.

«Aquí va a ver cerdo disponible en cualquier momento, lo hay ahora, yo voy a consumirlo ahora y así lo tiene que hacer todo el pueblo dominicano sin ningún tipo de problemas y sin ningún tipo de preocupación», argumentó Abinader.

El mandatario continuó respondiendo durante el almuerzo preguntas de los porcicultores por espacio de media hora pero sin la presencia de la prensa.
