19 provincias de República Dominicana circulan nuevas variantes de covid

Las dos variantes identificadas de alto interés epidemiológicas de SARS-CoV-2 que se han detectado en República Dominicana corresponden a la B.1.1.7 que se detectó por primera vez en Reino Unido y la  P.1. Que se identificó inicialmente en viajeros de Brasil y que fueron evaluadas durante un control de rutina en el aeropuerto de Japón, a principios de enero.  En total las variantes que están circulando son cuatro: (B.1.17 (VOC202012/ 01); B.1.351 (501Y.V2); P.1; B.1617).

Así lo informa el Ministerio de Salud Pública en  un comunicado de la Dirección General de Epidemiología, al indicar que esas cepas circulan en 19 provincias del país.

Las provincias son Monte Cristi, Dajabón, Puerto Plata, Valverde, Santiago, Hermanas Mirabal, María trinidad Sánchez, San Juan, Sánchez Ramírez, Monte Plata, Hato Mayor, El Seibo, San Cristóbal, Santo Domingo, Distrito nacional, San Pedro de Macorís, Peravia, Independencia y  Pedernales.

El informe indica que en Dajabón circulan las variantes P.1 y B.1.575; en Hermanas Mirabal la P.1 y B.1.575, mientras que en  San Cristóbal circulan la B.1.17 y la B.1.575.

En las otras 16 provincias citadas anteriormente circulan las variantes B.1.575 y la B1.526.1.

La variante B.1.1.7 que se detectó por primera vez en Reino Unido, representa un 50% de aumento de transmisión, aumenta la gravedad en función de las hospitalizaciones y las tasa de letalidad. “No presenta un impacto en la susceptibilidad a los tratamientos con anticuerpos monoclonales e impacto mínimamente en la neutralización por sueros convalecientes y post-vacunación”, dice Salud Pública.

La variante P.1 presenta una disminución significativa de la susceptibilidad a la combinación del tratamiento con algunos anticuerpos monoclonales e impacta mínimamente en la neutralización por sueros convalecientes y post-vacunación.
