Dos muertes en Santo Domingo a causa de las inundaciones.

Dos personas murieron este viernes en Santo Domingo debido a las lluvias torrenciales caídas en las últimas horas, informaron las autoridades.

Una de las víctimas falleció tras ceder un muro, mientras la otra persona perdió la vida cuando intentaba salvar su automóvil, pero quedó atrapada debajo.

Ante la situación provocada por las lluvias, la alcaldesa de Santo Domingo, Carolina Mejía, anunció que se activaba el comité de prevención, mitigación y respuesta ante desastres.

 

«Desde la Alcaldía hemos dispuesto nuestras brigadas nocturnas y de emergencia, así como la colaboración de los Bomberos y la Defensa Civil, para atender la situación provocada por las fuertes lluvias de esta noche, producto de una vaguada en el país», escribió en su cuenta de Twitter.

A estas horas de la noche, continúa bloqueado el tráfico en la ciudad y, pese a estar inundado, el metro ha ampliado su horario para facilitar así la movilidad.

 

La lluvia inundó también aparcamientos y arrastró todo lo que encontraba a su paso.

 

Debido a las lagunas que se formaron en las calles, el agua encharcada superaba en altura las ruedas de los automóviles e incluso alcanzaba puertas y ventanillas, hasta llegar en ocasiones casi a la capota, mientras los pocos viandantes que se atrevían a intentar caminar veían cómo el agua les alcanzaba las rodillas.

Se prevé que las lluvias continúen el sábado y se repitan el domingo.

 

La Oficina Nacional de Meteorología (Onamet) informa de fuertes aguaceros con tormentas eléctricas y ráfagas de viento en varias zonas, debido a una onda tropical y vaguada sobre el país que mantendrán las condiciones favorables para que se presenten precipitaciones.

 

Por su parte, el Centro de Operaciones de Emergencia (COE) decretó la alerta en 21 provincias de República Dominicana, una en roja, 11 en amarilla y 9 en verde.
