En un 36 por ciento disminuye mortalidad materna en el país.

El país registra 63 muertes maternas durante los primeros cinco meses del año, 33 menos de las ocurridas el año pasado a la fecha, cuando el sistema captó 96 fallecimientos, para una reducción de un 36%.

Las edades de 20 a 34 años son las que aportan mayor mortalidad, seguidas de las de 15 a 19 años, de acuerdo a los registros oficiales.

 

Los problemas hipertensivos del embarazo, las hemorragias, infecciones, las cardiopatías, anemia y las enfermedades respiratorias y de circulación figuran entre las principales causas de muertes.

 

El 65% de las muertes corresponden a las Regiones Metropolitana y Cibao Norte de Salud.

El boletín correspondiente a la semana epidemiológica número 21 del Ministerio de Salud Pública registra hasta el 28 de mayo pasado 63 muertes de madres durante el embarazo, parto y  puerperio o postparto, para una tasa de 97 por 100 mil nacidos vivos. El año pasado a la fecha los registros abarcan 96 fallecimientos para una tasa de 152 por 100 mil nacidos vivos.

Asimismo los registros del Servicio Nacional de Salud (SNS) recogen a la fecha 47 muertes maternas ocurridas en la red hospitalaria pública.

 

De acuerdo al informe, la mayor cantidad de fallecimientos ocurrieron durante el embarazo, seguidos de las ocurridas durante el parto y el puerperio, mientras el centro que mayor cantidad de muertes registró fue el hospital Estrella Ureña, de Santiago, seguido del Materno Infantil San Lorenzo de Los Mina.

 

Trece de los fallecimientos ocurrieron en madres en edades de 20 a 24 años; 12 entre las de 25 y 29 años e igual número entre las de 30 a 34, mientras entre las de 15 a 19 años suman cuatro muertes.
