Ejército Ruso destruye  la refinería más grande de Ucrania.

Las fuerzas rusas destruyeron ayer la refinería de Kremenchuk, en el centro de Ucrania y la mayor del pais, así como los depósitos de combustible y lubricante aledaños a la planta, según informó este domingo la agencia de noticias polaca PAP.

 

«El fuego ha sido extinguido, pero la planta ha sido destruida por completo y no puede seguir funcionando,» declaró el jefe de la administración militar de la región de Poltava, Dmitro Lunin, citado por PAP.

 

Lunin informó de que varias personas resultaron heridas en el ataque y sufrieron quemaduras de carácter grave, aunque sus vidas no corren peligro por el momento.

 

Añadió que se ha podido evitar una catástrofe ambiental y que los servicios de emergencia están vigilando la situación de cerca, y por otra parte apeló a los residentes de la zona y les pidió no acumular combustible y crear una «escasez artificial», ya que el suministro está garantizado.

 

Con anterioridad, el Ministerio de Defensa ruso había anunciado que usó «armas de largo alcance y alta precisión» para atacar la refinería, situada en la región central de Poltava, y «que abastecía a las tropas ucranianas en el centro y este del país».

 

De acuerdo con el diario ucraniano «Ukrainskaya Pravda», la refinería de Kremenchuk era la mayor del país y tenía una capacidad de 18,6 millones de toneladas de crudo.

 

La segunda refinería del país, en la región oriental de Járkov, suspendió operaciones y permanece mayoritariamente inactiva desde el 26 de febrero, dos días después del inicio de la invasión rusa, debido al peligro de convertirse en blanco de la artillería rusa.

 

En el caso de Kremenchuk, las autoridades consideraban que la planta estaba bien protegida y que no existía un riesgo de ataque inminente.
