El barril de petróleo Brent araña los 140 dólares, cerca de su récord

DESDE EL INICIO DE LA INVASIÓN RUSA DE UCRANIA EL 24 DE FEBRERO, EL BRENT SUBIÓ 33%.

Nueva York, Estados Unidos- El precio del barril de Brent del Mar del Norte, una de las dos variedades de crudo de referencia en el mercado, rozó este domingo los 140 dólares, cerca de su récord, impulsado por l conflicto en Ucrania y la parálisis casi completa de las exportaciones de petróleo ruso.

 

Poco después de la apertura de las transacciones electrónicas en torno a las 23H00 GMT, el Brent para mayo, el contrato de referencia, subió a 139,13 dólares, cerca del récord de 147,50 dólares alcanzado en julio de 2008.

Hacia las 00H30 GMT, la cotización marcaba un alza de 9,02%, a 128,77 dólares.

 

Desde el inicio de la invasión rusa de Ucrania el 24 de febrero, el brent subió 33%.

 

En la otra referencia del mercado, el barril de West Texas Intermediate (WTI) para mayo trepó el domingo a 130,50 dólares. Cerca de las 00H00 GMT mostraba un aumento de 8,18%, a 125,15 dólares.

 

El jefe de la diplomacia estadounidense, Antony Blinken, declaró el domingo que Estados Unidos y la Unión Europeo conversaban «muy activamente» sobre la posibilidad de prohibir las importaciones rusas de petróleo en respuesta a la invasión de Ucrania.

 

Aunque el petróleo ruso está por ahora exento de sanciones, se ha quedado prácticamente sin compradores. Shell fue uno de los únicos que se atrevió a hacerlo esta semana.

 

«Dejen de comprar petróleo ruso», reclamó el domingo en la cadena CNN el ministro ucraniano de Relaciones Exteriores, Dmytro Kuleba, en reacción a la compra de 100.000 toneladas de petróleo ruso por parte de Shell.
