La Romana, RD.Falleció tras el incendio producido en la clínica Canela 2 de La Romana, Jeovanny Méndez, una enfermera que laboraba allí, y otra mujer que se había realizado una cirugía horas antes, y se encontraba en etapa de recuperación. La paciente fallecida aún no ha sido identificada.
También se notificó que la enfermera Nora Polanco, se encuentra en estado crítico y entubada, tras ser afectada por el incendio.
La clínica emitió un comunicado agradeciendo el apoyo de la población, en el que indican que las autoridades correspondientes realizan el levantamiento en las instalaciones para determinar las causas del incendio.
El hecho fue reportado alrededor de las 6:30 de la tarde por el Sistema Nacional de Atención a Emergencias y Seguridad 911, quienes indicaron que unas 40 personas fueron evacuadas en la clínica ubicada del sector Los Multi, y una de las más grande de La Romana.
Unas cuatro unidades de bomberos de la provincia de La Romana asistieron para sofocar el fuego.
Además, al lugar se presentaron dos unidades de la Policía, 13 del Servicio Nacional de Salud (SNS), junto a cuatro de la Dirección General de Transito y Transporte Terrestre (Digesett), y otras cuatro del Ministerio de Obras Públicas.
