Santo Domingo.-La Liga Nacional de Desarrollo U-22 presentó este martes su primera temporada de baloncesto durante un acto en el que se informó que el evento de este será dedicado a Rafael (Fey) Duquela, primer árbitro con licencia internacional del país.
La actividad fue celebrada en el Hard Rock Café de Blue Mall y contó con la participación del presidente de la Federación Dominicana de Baloncesto (FEDOMBAL), Rafael Uribe; Wellington Arnaud, director del instituto Nacional de Aguas Potables (INAPA), quien preside el Comité Organizador del certamen.
En la mesa principal también estuvieron el técnico José (Maita) Marcedes; el presidente de la Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Femenino (LNBF), Fernando Teruel; José Monegro, de la gerencia colegiada de la selección nacional de baloncesto de mayores, y Augusto Martínez, como representantes de los clubes participantes.
La temporada arranca el primero de septiembre próximo con una gala de inauguración y dos días después (3) se dará salto al centro.
Los 16 equipos se disputarán la Copa INAPA gracias a un acuerdo de cooperación por tres años entre esta entidad gubernamental y el organismo rectora del basket nacional. Uribe resaltó las cualidades de de Arnaud, anunció a Mercedes como el comisonado de la LND y además presentó a los representantes de las 16 escuadras.
El presidente de Fedombal habló de la iniciativa que busca brindar una plataforma a jugadores al comienzo de su carrera profesional.
“Es una proyecto que venimos cocinando desde 2018 y lo que queremos es darle un espiado a los jóvenes cuando terminan sus categorías menores”, dijo Uribe. “Los países que son los principales en materia de baloncesto tienen su liga mayor y ligas menores como España y Argentina y eso es lo que queremos lograr”.
Uribe informó que el Final Four y el partido por el campeonato se trasmitirán por televisión abierta desde la sede del Palacio de los Deportes y que además los en encuentros de la serie regular serán transmitidos por la plataforma de YouTube.
De su lado, Arnaud pronunció las palabras centrales y afirmó que el gran mérito se lo merece Uribe, quien siempre ha estado abierto para desarrollar el baloncesto. “La Fedombal ha estado a la vanguardia, con Uribe a la cabeza, pues tener una granja, una liga de formación es algo grandioso. Hacer este convenio desde el INAPA con la federación para mi es un sueño”, expresó. “Qué falta hacia esta liga y qué honor es para mi es contribuir con la federación, con el deporte que amo desde niño”, exclamó el funcionario.
Monegro también habló en la actividad. Dijo que la liga es un ambicioso proyecto que va a desarrollar los talentos para tener una mejor selección adulta. “Felicito a la federación por esta iniciativa y creo que será muy exitosa”, apuntó Monegro. “Al ser nacional va a permitir que todos los compenetremos más”.
Maita ofrece detalles
Mercedes presentó el organigrama de trabajo de la LND, que tendrá como director técnico a Ramón Ceballos.
Mercedes informó que la liga correrá un amplio protocolo por COVID-19 y sostuvo que todos los jugadores participantes y el personal que trabajará en la liga deberán estar vacunados.
El miembro del Pabellón de la Fama del Deporte Dominicano apuntó que el rango de edad permitido para los jugadores será de entre 18 y 22 años.
Equipos en acción
Los equipos que estarán repartidos en dos conferencias: Norte y Sur-Este. La conferencia Norte tendrá las divisiones A y B, con cuatro equipos cada una, y en la Sur-Este estarán las C y D, también con una cuarteta de franquicias cada una.
La División A contará con el Club Mauricio Báez y Truenos de Cristo Rey, ambos del Distrito Nacional, Astros de La Vega y Club Domingo Paulino (CDP), de Santiago de los Caballeros.
La División B estará compuesta por Los Coloniales (DN), LIBASADO (Santo Domingo Oeste), San Sebastián de Moca y Club Fénix de Santiago.
Bameso Bulldogs (DN), Loros de Santo Domingo Oeste, Cocolos de San Pedro de Macorís y Constituyentes de San Cristóbal serán los cuatro equipos que jugarán en la División C. No
En tanto que la División D se encuentran Los Areperos (DN), Los Leñadores de Santo Domingo Este, Trenes del Este (La Romana) y Potros de Higüey.
