La Junta de Aviación Civil (JAC) confirmó la muerte de dos pilotos dominicanos que iban como pasajeros en una aeronave que se estrelló en Haití.
La aeronave Piper Cherokee, matrícula norteamericana, hacía la ruta Puerto Príncipe – Jacmel, en la que iban seis personas a bordo, entre ellas los dos pilotos dominicanos , que laboraban en Haití y residían en Jacmel.
El presidente de la Junta de Aviación Civil, José Marte Piantini, dijo que instruyó a la Comisión Investigadoras de Accidentes Aéreos (CIAA) para que se pusieran en contacto con las autoridades de Haití para que le den participación en torno a las investigaciones para determinar las causas del accidente.
Explica que, debido a que la aeronave no es matrícula dominicana, y el lugar del accidente ocurrió fuera de la jurisdicción del país, y los ocupantes nacionales no eran parte de la tripulación de vuelo, sino que iban como pasajeros, “no tenemos jurisdicción para participar en la investigación”.
“No obstante establecimos contacto con las autoridades haitianas para postular un representante acreditado oficialmente y así tener derecho a obtener información sobre el proceso de investigación (ya que murieron dos dominicanos) que, Haití como Estado del Suceso, deberá realizar y además nos pusimos a su disposición para brindarle cualquier asistencia que estos requieran de nosotros”, dijo a Listín Diario el presidente de la JAC, José Marte Piantini.
